RETROSPECT 311 | Christy Hailu (@christy-hailu)
.
'The first half of the set is all about deep and hypnotic vibes. Trance, melancholy, and thoughts that rush back the moment it gets quiet. I let some sunshine in at times, even though anxiety keeps pulsing somewhere in the back of your mind. The second half shifts into raw energy and rebellion. The rhythm picks up, and a driving force steps in, giving us total freedom. Creating this mix, I wanted to recreate the states and emotions we carry inside but don't always know how to put into words. To show that these extremes can coexist - that insecurity doesn't rule out courage, and melancholy can hold a lot of warmth. There is space here for each of these contrasts and for a deep trance. I played what I feel, and I'm leaving space for whatever you take away from it'.
